Georgia and Aaron Murray control their own destiny in the BCS.One week removed from sitting on top of the BCS the SEC now occupies 2nd, 3rd and 4th. The SEC has won six straight national titles and barring any upsets this weekend in Tuscaloosa and Athens we will see someone compete to keep the streak alive. The losses by Kansas State and Oregon magnified the pressure of the regular season and how things can change so quickly in the BCS. Every week these two teams and coaches had to answer questions about being deserving to play for a title and whether computers should be making these decisions. The script flipped on these two a week after Alabama lost to Texas A&M and Kansas State certainly felt the pressure. I have been a defender (not a supporter that is different) of the BCS because of the way our old system was constructed with bowl tie-ins. I want to see the two best play, but because the SEC is head and shoulders above college football, I am not so sure we wont see that December 1 and not January 7th.Notre Dame will play a USC team without Matt Barkley on Saturday and should finish unbeaten. I was surprised at how early Kiffin ruled Barkley out for such a big game, at least make the Irish prepare for him to play right? The Irish sport an SEC defense leading the country (with Alabama) at 10.1 points per game given up. They hold opponents to 92 yards per game on the ground and are plus 7 in the turnover margin. They have won two over time games and at times have not looked great on offense. The remind me a lot of Florida in 2006, a team that struggled to find its offense under second year coach Urban Meyer but won with great defense. Brian Kelly has coached a team to an undefeated season before and in 2009 his Cincinnati squad finished 12-0.What does the BCS mean for the rest of the SEC?First of all it means that Georgia or Alabama will play for the BCS title in Miami, assuming the take care of Georgia Tech and Auburn. The next team up is Florida who is an underdog at Florida State this weekend. If the Gators win, they would finish in the top four of the BCS which guarantees them an automatic bid. The Sugar Bowl which would lose the SEC champion would then select 11-1 Florida to play in its BCS Game. If Notre Dame gets upset you will likely see and all-sec title game for the second year in a row as Florida would finish 2 in the BCS behind the SEC Champion. What makes that even more interesting is that it could also be a re-match like last season with the Gators and Dogs re-racking the Georgia 17-9 win in Jacksonville from October. If Florida loses this week then the Sugar Bowl will likely take LSU as its team assuming they finish 10-2. That could also be impacted by the SEC title game as it would be hard for the Sugar to pass on11-2 Alabama should they lose to Georgia. Texas A&M seemed destined for the Fiesta Bowl and a BCS berth on Friday, but after Saturdays wild events they likely will be going to Jerrys world to take on ..Texas.SEC Bowl Projections as of TodayAlabama BCS Title Game Miami or Sugar Bowl if they lose to GeorgiaFlorida-Sugar Bowl if they beat FSU, if not they go to Outback BowlGeorgia-Capital One Bowl or BCS Title if they beat AlabamaTexas A&M-Cotton BowlLSU-Outback Bowl or Sugar Bowl if Florida loses to FSUSouth Carolina-Chick Fil A BowlMississippi State-Gator BowlVanderbilt-Music City BowlOle Miss-Liberty Bowl if they upset Mississippi State, if not vacatedZach Mettenberger has thrown for 856 yards in his last three games.Weekend ReviewLSU pulled out a thriller versus Ole Miss as Zach Mettenberger continues to play well. He did throw two interceptions, snapping his streak of 130 consecutive passes without an interception. He became the first LSU quarterback to throw for over 200 yards in three straight games since Matt Flynn in 2007. The Tiger offense has averaged 31.6ppg the last three games.Ole Miss lost another heartbreaker even with Bo Wallace throwing for over 300 yards for the third time this season. Wallace has had a great first year, but he must cut down on the interceptions. He leads the SEC with 13 and has 11 of them in the Rebels six losses.Alabamas defense held Western Carolina to 2-11 on 3rd down and AJ McCarron threw his 21st touchdown setting the Crimson Tide single season record.Georgia held Georgia Southern to 100 yards below their average on the ground and forced four fumbles in their 45-14 win. Todd Gurley became the first freshman back to go over 1,000yards since Herschel Walker. Florida got its second shutout of the season in a 23-0 win over Jacksonville State. The Gators held the Gamecocks to 38 yards in the second half and picked off their 16 pass of the season. Florida finished 7-0 at home becoming just the third team in school history to accomplish that feat.South Carolina defeated Wofford 24-7 to get to the nine win plateau. Jadevon Clowney sat out the game but the Gamecock defense did force three fumbles. Kenny Miles had 127 yards rushing and Connor Shaw threw his sixth touchdown in the last three games.Kentucky sent Joker Phillips out a winner at home with their 34-3 win over Samford. Raymond Sanders had a career high 123 yards on the ground and Phillips finished his career 3-0 on senior day with Kentucky. Here is my short list for the wildcat opening this week-1. Butch Jones-Cincinnati2. Sonny Dykes-Louisiana Tech3. Mike Macintyre- San Jose StateAuburn had its most yards in a game since the 2010 BCS title game against Oregon. The Tigers racked up 512 yards with 341 of it coming on the ground. Both Tre Mason and Onterio McCalebb went over 100 yards for the game.Mississippi State exploded for a 45-14 win over Arkansas giving the Bulldogs eight wins for just the 16th time in school history. Tyler Russell had four touchdowns and State forced five turnovers in their home finale.Arkansas will not be headed to a bowl game this season. Cobi Hamilton will be headed to the NFL and some postseason all star games. Hamilton continues to shine with 7 receptions for 88 yards and a touchdown against Mississippi State.Missouri blew a chance to get bowl eligible by allowing Syracuse to score 21 points in the 4th quarter. The Tigers had won 18 in a row at home versus non-conference opponents. The defense has forced a turnover in 29 straight games. They must win at Texas A&M to return to a bowl game.Texas A&M is one win away from a 10 win season for Kevin Sumlin. Johnny Manziel became the first freshman in history to throw for 3,000 yards and rush for 1,000 yards. The Aggies have not won 10 games in a season since 1998.James Franklin deserves some mention for Coach of the Year in the SEC.Vanderbilt has won five in a row to get to 7-4 after thumping Tennessee 41-18. The Volunteers had won 14 in a row in Nashville but Jordan Rogers continued his fine play with two touchdown passes. It was the fourth consecutive game with at least two touchdown passes for Rogers. The five SEC wins for Vandy is the most since 1935.As expected Tennessee fired Derek Dooley after the loss to Vanderbilt. The Volunteers have not had three straight losing seasons since 190-1911. I believe Tennessee is a destination job and with the tradition and facilities can attract a big name coach. I dont believe John Gruden or Bill Cowher is going to get into college coaching so here is my short list for Athletic Director Dave Hart.1. Charlie Strong-Louisville2. Art Briles-Baylor3. Al Golden-Miami
