ATHENS, Ga. - It seems the Bulldogs have already received two surprise recruiting pickups on this National Signing Day.
After receiver Isaiah McKenzie announced his intentions to attend UGA earlier in the day, the school picked up a verbal pledge from three-star tight end Hunter Atkinson, who was previously committed to Cincinnati and had also considered Louisville. He is expected to sign later in the day.
A 6-foot-6, 250-pound prospect out of Oakwood, Ga., Atkinson largely flew under the radar before picking up a handful of new offers in the past week. With ideal size for the position and the ability to make plays as a receiver, many recruiting analysts had already labeled Atkinson a sleeper even before he had landed with the Bulldogs.
With Atkinson and McKenzie in the fold, Georgia appears off to an excellent start on the biggest day if the recruiting calendar.
