The finish line of the football season marks the acceleration point of the recruiting season and, as November rolls on, both are approaching quickly and already we’ve begun to see some excitement. On Monday night, Alabama lost four-star offensive guard commit Viane Talamaivao to USC when the California native decided to make a flip to stay closer to home. That could be the beginning of a serious run for the Trojans, who are one coaching announcement away from securing a slew of high-profile prospects.
Don’t feel too bad for the Crimson Tide, though. Prior to Talamaivao’s commitment, Alabama landed a pledge out of the nation’s No. 1 defensive end when Virginia-native Da’Shawn Hand shunned Michigan to commit to Alabama. The decision now puts the spotlight on elite defenders Ra’Shaan Evans out of Auburn, Ala. and Lorenzo Carter out of Norcross, Ga. as the top two uncommitted defensive ends in the southeast and both have the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama in consideration.
Another name to keep an eye on in the near future is five-star linebacker Raekwon McMillan. The Georgia native has been considered an Ohio State lean throughout much of the process but Alabama has made a serious run for the head-hunter and Clemson also remains a legit contender.
On Friday, you’ll have a chance to see one of the most talent-filled high school football games imaginable when CSS Friday Night Football brings you Ft. Lauderdale University School takes on Booker T. Washington of Miami. The schools combined field almost entirely future college players on their two-deep rosters.
Among the barrage of talent, keep a close eye on Booker T. quarterback Treon Harris, who is committed to Florida State, and Miami DL commit Chad Thomas. For University School, 247Sports Composite five-star running back Jordan Scarlett will carry the football while Auburn quarterback-commit Sean Lee will be the trigger man under center. It should be an amazing display.
