For the last two years, 20 out of 32 number-one Regional seeds have won, five number-two seeds have won, six number-three seeds and one #4 seed.  That trend is a downward trend for number-one regional seeds who in the three years prior (2008-10) won 39 of 48 regional’s (13 each season).

This season I’m predicting that 11 of the 16 number-one seeds will advance to the Super Regional’s along with three number-two seeds and two number-threes.  I’m also predicting that five of the nine SEC teams in the field will reach the Super Regional’s and four of the eight ACC teams.

The key is picking what lower seeds will advance.  Hard to do, but here’s my predictions:

Chapel Hill, NC - #1 National Seed North Carolina

Columbia, SC - #1 South Carolina

Gamecocks at Tar Heels in Super Regional next weekend

Raleigh, NC - #1 North Carolina State

Eugene, OR - #2 Rice upsets #8 National Seed Oregon

Owls at Wolfpack in Supers

Fullerton, CA - #3 New Mexico upsets #5 National Seed Cal-St Fullerton

Los Angeles, CA - #1 UCLA

Lobos at Bruins in Supers

Blacksburg, VA - #3 Coastal Carolina upsets #1 Virginia Tech

Baton Rouge, LA - #4 National Seed LSU

Chanticleers at Tigers in Supers

Nashville, TN - #2 National Seed Vanderbilt

Louisville, KY - #1 Louisville

Cardinals at Commodores in Supers

Bloomington, IN - #2 Austin Peay upsets #1 Indiana

Tallahassee, FL - #7 National Seed Florida State

Governors at Seminoles in Supers

Charlottesville, VA - #6 National Seed Virginia

Starkville, MS - #1 Mississippi State

Bulldogs at Cavaliers in Supers

Manhattan, KS - #2 Arkansas upsets #1 Kansas State

Corvallis, OR - #3 National Seed Oregon Stae

Razorbacks at Beavers in Supers

Check back in early next week and see how I did.  Better yet, make your predictions with me on the web site in the comment box.
