The Wooddale Cardinals are 3-2 on the season and coming off a 42-25 win at Houston.  Wooddale has also posted wins over Cordova and Southwind with losses to Christian Brothers and Memphis East.  The Cardinals have qualified for the Tennessee state playoffs each of the last two seasons, reaching the 2nd round in both 2009 (9-3) and 2010 (8-4).

Wooddale is led by first year Head Coach Keith Spann who was on Coach Duron Sutton's Ridgeway coaching staff before taking over the Cardinals program.  Ridgeway was a 27-14 winner in last year's regular season meeting.  The Cardinals were 36-14 winners in 2009.

The Ridgeway Roadrunners are 2-3 on the season and coming off a 57-21 win at Kirby.  The Roadrunners have also beaten Overton while losing to White Station, at Dallas Skyline and at Whitehaven.  Ridgeway reached the Tennessee state semi-finals last season, going 13-1 with playoff wins over Memphis East, Hardin County and Jackson Northside before a tough 21-19 loss to Hendersonville, coming up one win short of the state championship game.

Among the alumni of these two schools currently playing college football: Wooddale graduates, Junior DT Dontari Poe and Freshman LB Kevin Green at Memphis, and OL Ryan Mack a freshman at Louisville.  Ridgeway alum, LB Justin Maclin is a sophomore at LSU
