LSU won two out of three games over Arkansas last weekend and lost six first-place votes in the USA Today Top 25 Coaches Poll but still managed to stay ahead of Vanderbilt who swept Missouri.
LSU (34-3, 13-2 SEC) and Vanderbilt (33-4, 14-1 SEC) each garnered one first place vote in the poll, but stayed at No. 2 and 3, respectively in Monday’s top 25 poll. North Carolina received 25 first-place votes and sits at No. 1
Vanderbilt has now won 14 games in a row, dating back to March 23. Prior to losing to Arkansas on Saturday, LSU had won 15 in a row.
Mississippi State (30-9, 8-7 SEC) swept Texas A&M over the weekend and beat Ole Miss during the week to go 4-0 since last week’s poll and move up six spots to No. 10.
Arkansas (25-12, 9-6 SEC) dropped two spots to No. 12 after losing its series to LSU, but South Carolina took the biggest hit in the poll after being swept by Florida over the weekend. The Gamecocks dropped from No. 8 to No. 14. Kentucky, who lost its weekend series to Tennessee 2-1, dropped five spots to No. 19.
Ole Miss (26-10, 7-8 SEC) was rewarded a small adjustment of one spot after sweeping Alabama over the weekend and sits at No. 17.
The SEC has seven teams in the top 25 poll and Florida also received votes but sits outside the poll.
