For all you passionate fans, you big-time stats guys, you BTSG's. Here are some notes, nuggets and tidbits of all things College Football.  Impress your friends it's time to kickoff!

LOUISIANA-LAFAYETTE

The Ragin’ Cajuns were raging again, especially quarterback Terrance Broadway.  This past week’s game against Akron went back-and-forth with Louisiana finally coming up on top due to an outstanding onside kick by Hunter Stover.  Broadway was the star performer though.  He threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more in the victory.  Since 2000 he is just the eighth Sun Belt player to post such numbers.  Here are those seven players (since one player did it twice):

  • Scott Hall (North Texas): 2001 vs. Louisiana-Lafayette
  • Dwight Dasher (Middle Tennessee): 2007 vs. FIU
  • Dwight Dasher (Middle Tennessee): 2009 vs. Western Kentucky
  • Riley Dodge (North Texas): 2009 vs. Western Kentucky
  • Ryan Aplin (Arkansas State): 2010 vs. Western Kentucky
  • Deon Anthony (Troy): 2012 vs. FIU
  • Kolton Browning (Louisiana-Monroe): 2012 vs. Western Kentucky
  • Terrance Broadway (Louisiana-Lafayette): 2012 vs. Akron

WESTERN KENTUCKY

Todd Porter, Brandon Doughty, Nelson Fishback and Damarcus Smith each played a role last week as they all threw and completed passes to help lead the Hilltoppers to a demanding 58-17 victory over Morgan State. This season Doughty has thrown the most for Western Kentucky with 122 passing attempts. Porter has 10, Smith five and Fishback with four rounds out the list.  Western Kentucky is just one of five FBS teams this season that has had at least four different players throw more than one pass in this short season so far.  Here are those schools:

  • Western Kentucky
  • Air Force
  • Cincinnati
  • Clemson
  • Hawaii

GEORGIA STATE

The Panthers of Georgia State outscored Jacksonville State 17-3 in the fourth quarter to force overtime, but the Gamecocks prevailed with a 32-26 win.  Kicker Wil Lutz connected with a 26-yard field goal as time expired to force an extra session.  Overtime games are nothing new to Georgia State which is in its fourth season playing ball.  Here are all of their overtime games:

  • 2013 Lost to Jacksonville State
  • 2012 Won against South Alabama (2 OT)
  • 2012 Lost to UTSA
  • 2012 Lost to St. Francis (Illinois)
  • 2010 Lost to Jacksonville State
  • 2010 Won against North Carolina Central
