HOOVER, Ala – The Florida Gators finished the regular season with 14 wins and enter the Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament as the No. 8 seed. The Gators will face the No. 9 seed Texas A&M Aggies in the third game of the tournament on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. ET in Hoover, Ala. at the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. The game will be broadcast on CSS and Mike Morgan will call the play-by-play with Joe Beckwith working as color analyst.

Florida (29-27, 14-16 SEC) lost its final three conference series of the regular season, dropping three games to LSU and then losing two games to both Auburn and Georgia to crawl into the conference tournament.

The Gators will send sophomore right-handed pitcher Johnny Magliozzi to the mound on Tuesday. Magliozzi is 4-1 on the season with a 2.14 ERA.

“He was very limited this weekend against Georgia and he’s started a few games for us” said head coach Kevin O’Sullivan. “We’re going to give him a shot to get out there and get us off on a good foot.”

O’Sullivan said if the Gators were fortunate enough to win Tuesday they would send Jonathon Crawford to the mound Wednesday.

Texas A&M (30-25, 13-16 SEC) will counter with a right-handed sophomore of its own in Daniel Mengden, who was 7-3 this season with a 1.92 ERA.

Head coach Rob Childress said his team was treating Tuesday’s single elimination game as if it were an NCAA Tournament single elimination game.

“We’re going to throw Mengden and do whatever we’ve got to do win [Tuesday],” said Childress.

Texas A&M has won six of the last seven meetings against Florida, but those game were before the Aggies entered the SEC. These two teams did not meet this season.
