This is one tough conference. The weight of 16 teams makes it so. Teams are currently playing their non-conference schedules with conference play getting underway for most during the second week of January, 2014. By then, most teams should have their lineups set.
Leading the way during non-conference play is Louisiana Tech at 6-1. Southern Miss and Charlotte are also one-loss teams. Keeping pace with the top teams are East Carolina and UAB.
Teams within striking distance are Marshall, FIU, Middle Tennessee, Old Dominion, Tulane, UTEP, and Rice. FAU, Tulsa, and UTSA are still seeking their rhythm.
